Chairman of Minorities People’s Alliance and Bishop James John Paul Address Challenges Facing Minorities


Karachi: Mr. Yaqoob Sharif Gill, Chairman of the Minorities People’s Alliance Pakistan, held a pivotal meeting with Rev. Bishop James John Paul in Karachi to discuss the challenges faced by Christian and minority communities across the country. The meeting was attended by key members of the Alliance’s Karachi Division, who engaged in a comprehensive dialogue on the social, economic, and educational issues affecting minorities.

During the meeting,  Gill emphasized the Alliance’s dedication to promoting the welfare and development of minority communities. He underlined the importance of ensuring that the voices of minorities are heard at all levels of governance and stressed the need for collaborative efforts to address persistent inequities in education, employment, and representation in policymaking. Bishop James John Paul echoed these concerns, highlighting the struggles faced by Christians in Pakistan, including a lack of equal opportunities and representation. He commended the proactive efforts of the Minorities People’s Alliance in addressing these challenges and driving tangible improvements within the community.

The discussion also focused on fostering interfaith harmony and safeguarding religious freedoms as guaranteed under Pakistan’s Constitution. Both leaders stressed the necessity of engaging government institutions and civil society to create an environment of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all communities.

Members of the Karachi Division team, including Senior Vice Chairman Asif Nazir, Deputy Chief Organizer Malik Sultan Simon, Rev. Pastor Shafqat Gill, Vice President Shahzad Azam, Secretary General Shahzad Emmanuel, Religious Wing President Sagaer Denial, and Youth Wing President Adnan Romis Gill, actively participated in the discussions. Each member provided insights into their respective areas of work and reiterated their commitment to addressing grassroots issues faced by minorities.

Gill concluded the meeting by reaffirming the importance of such dialogues in identifying and addressing the challenges faced by minorities. He assured that the Minorities People’s Alliance would remain steadfast in its mission to advocate for minority rights at both the provincial and national levels. Bishop James John Paul expressed his gratitude for the Alliance’s ongoing efforts and voiced optimism that these initiatives would lead to meaningful progress for minority communities in Pakistan.
