A Pakistani court has refused to return a 14-year-old Hindu girl, who was allegedly kidnapped, forcibly converted to Islam and married to a Muslim man, to her parents.
The teenager, Sohana Sharma Kumari, before a district court in Pakistan's Sindh province, where despite her insisting she wanted to go with her parents, the court refused to send her with them.
Instead it sent her to a shelter home for women, stating that she seemed to be under pressure when she appeared before the court.
It is alleged that on June 2 the girl was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home in the Benazirabad by her tutor and his accomplices.
After her father Dilip Kumar filed a complaint with the police, saying she was underage and had been kidnapped, a video of the teenager under duress appeared with her stating she had converted to Islam and married a Muslim man.
Five days after the kidnapping police recovered the girl from a house in the district.
